We left Sines Marina at about 8:30 local time and headed for Cabo de Sao Vincente. There was not enough wind in the morning, so we motored for a little while. At about 12:00 we hoisted the main and rolled out the genoa. I was blowing with a comfortable NNW F4.
We had been warned that the wind would increase significantly when rounding Cabo de Sao Vincente. I took in the second reef in the main sail in order to be prepared. Whilst rounding the cape, the wind was constantly picking up and reached finally F7-F8. It remained like this until Lagos harbour entry. We could retain speeds above 7kn and arrived finally approximately 45min after sunset at 21:30 local time in the darkness.

you´ve surprised your sister and me today with a post card from Porto/Portugal. Many thanks for the nice greetings. One day we will visit Porto, promised. Now we have to wait only 3 weeks until we will sail together on the route Palma – Catania and we are full of curiosity. The fotos on your blog are very impressive. da kommt Ihr ja wirklich gut voran. Gut, daß der Motorschaden dann doch keiner war.
Der Leuchturm am “Ende Europas” kommt mir bekannt vor. Dort waren wir vor einigen Jahren auf der Landseite.

Hi Jost, Cabo de Sao Vincente is ein markantes Kap. Der heftige Wind und die Wellen haben die dramatische Szenerie unterstrichen. Wir haben oben Leute gesehen die uns bei unserem wilden Ritt zugeschaut haben. Ich hätte gerne auch mal von dort oben gesehen wie Matilda bei F7-F8 durch die wellen rauscte.
